New Tranquebar Value Foods is a coastal food processing and value-addition enterprise based in Tharangambadi, Mayiladuthurai District, Tamil Nadu. Located along the historic east coast of Tamil Nadu, the region is home to vibrant marine fisherfolk and agricultural communities and benefits from access to important fishing centres, including Tharangambadi, Poombuhar, Nagapattinam, and the nearby Karaikal Fishing Harbour.
Despite the region’s rich marine resources and strong fishing ecosystem, the potential for producing high-quality, value-added seafood products remains largely untapped. New Tranquebar Value Foods was established to bridge this gap by transforming locally available marine resources into safe, nutritious, high-quality, and market-ready products.
The venture is promoted by Julius Thuyamani, a postgraduate in Organisational Psychology with over 15 years of experience in the social and development sector. His professional journey includes leadership roles in programme implementation, CSR initiatives, community development, and grassroots engagement. Through his close association with coastal communities and involvement in marine fish value-addition initiatives, he developed a strong understanding of the challenges and opportunities within the fisheries sector.
At New Tranquebar Value Foods, we believe that value addition can create meaningful opportunities for fisherfolk, women, and local youth. Our vision is to build a scalable and sustainable fisheries-based enterprise that promotes local entrepreneurship, generates employment, improves livelihoods, and brings the authentic flavours and nutritional richness of India’s coastline to consumers across regional and national markets.
